2023 Hyundai Venue: Pros & Cons

Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue has taken the Indian subcompact SUV market by storm since its launch in 2019. The little SUV packs a big punch in style, features, and affordability, making it a top contender for anyone looking for a versatile and feature-rich car in India.

Why should you get one?

Spacious and comfortable interiors: Despite its compact size, the Venue offers spacious interiors with ample headroom and legroom for both front and rear passengers. This makes it a comfortable choice for everyday commutes and even longer road trips.

Feature-packed cabin: Even the base trim of the Venue comes loaded with features that make driving a pleasure. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rearview camera, and automatic climate control are to name a few. Higher trims add even more goodies like a sunroof, heated seats, and a premium sound system.

Peppy engines on offer: The Venue offers two engine choices: a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder block and a 1.0-litre turbocharged GDI three-cylinder engine. Both engines offer good fuel economy and enough power to navigate the bustling Indian city streets. The 1.0-litre turbocharged engine provides a more exhilarating driving experience, making it our pick of the lot.

Optimal fuel efficiency: The 1.2-litre engine delivers up to 20 kmpl in the city and 24 kmpl on the highway, while the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine returns 18 kmpl in the city and 21 kmpl on the highway.

Pricing: The Venue's price depends on trim and engine. The base E trim with the 1.2-litre engine starts at around ₹7.89 lakh, while the top-of-the-line SX(O) trim with the 1.0-litre turbocharged engine goes up to ₹13.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi, December 2023).

Things we don't like

Limited boot space: Like most subcompact SUVs, the Venue's boot space is on the smaller side, especially with the rear seats up. If you frequently need to haul large items, you might want to consider a larger SUV.

Firm ride quality: The suspension is tuned for handling and agility, which can sometimes result in a firmer ride quality, especially on rough and uneven patches.

Verdict

Overall, the Hyundai Venue is a compelling packager for Indian car buyers looking for a stylish, feature-rich, and fuel-efficient subcompact SUV. Its spacious interiors, peppy engines, and attractive design make it a true contender in the Indian market.
